The European bison (Bison bonasus, wisent) is the Eurasian species of bison. It is an endangered species currently inhabiting only some reserves in Europe. It is sturdy, confident and impenetrably dull. It has a mild character, but it is somewhat tedious. The wisent is a herd animal and inhabits forests. It makes efforts when necessary. But it doesn’t overstrain. It has a huge trunk, but it mostly uses its frightening appearance whenever it wants to achieve something.
The European bison lives in mixed groups of about ten individuals on average. The groups are not families and often exchange members at meetings. Males do not defend their territories, which often overlap and are located close to meadows and water sources. The wisent’s social behaviour is more like a group walk in a park than a struggle for survival or supremacy.
This bull has somewhat apathetic nature. It’s not terrible at all, but diligent and hardworking. It is rather sexual, but this is typical of cattle and of all hollow-horned ruminants (Bovidae). The wisent-people are normal, good and peaceful, but penny-pinching. They lack subtlety, so they aren’t perverted, which is also good. The wisent-man is simple, trusting, trustworthy, patriotic and brave. He knows how to handle weapons and occasionally boasts and manages to attract women’s attention. Poruchik Rzhevskiy, a fictional character from the Soviet Union, is an ideal personification of him.
In the huge curly mane, the bison’s eyes and horns are flashing. ‘A column of thick smoke: inside it a lightning flashes.’ is a symbol of the degree that among other things seems to visualize the general appearance of the wisent. It indicates a talented man to whom it won’t be easy to gain popularity, but whose intellectual power will be manifested more clearly just because of the emerging problems. When the time comes, his power will become tangible and he’ll receive recognition for his practical skills and energy.
Externally indifferent, the European bison is busy with rumination. Its degree is associated with foresight and aptitude for thought experiments. It is good for scientific and philosophical research. It indicates a person whose ideas require testing and practical examination.
The wisent-people are confident and insist on having their own way. They may use force and take advantage of others in order to achieve their goals. They can be rough up to tyranny. Theirs is a degree of arrogance, hubris and simultaneously of luck and good intuition. An example of degree’s action might be a politician who bribes people in need with the purpose of implementing his plans. There is great ambition, love of power and raising here, but there is a danger of falling too.
The degree bestows pride, confidence, diligence, capacity for work, originality and strong intuition upon the native. Interest in occult sciences and everything secret is possible.
Nowadays the European bison lives in special reserves only. This is reminiscent of the Sabian symbol of its degree: ‘A vast (and well kept public) park.’ it depicts the potential of organized groups for entertainment. It epitomizes the collective enjoyment. Its central idea is the cultivation of natural energy for the shared use of recreation.
Wisents love ‘gregarious’ pleasures. Wisent-people find emotional satisfaction in the products of their culture, which stems from the sense of ‘belonging’ to a large, organized and peaceable whole. The Sabian symbol shows the impressive results that the collective efforts can have for achieving a peaceful life and enjoyment of moments of rest. It indicates appreciation of traditional culture, loyalty to the establishment, insusceptibility, feeling empathy for the organized group or herd and assurance found in public opinion.
Social media is a modern version of collective recreation and amusement. Facebook, for example, is an analogue of a huge and well-organized public park. It is like a reserve for traditional culture. In it tolerant socialization, harmless entertainment and even moderate experiments are encouraged, but extremes are disallowed. Browsing through the social network is like grazing in ‘a vast and well maintained public park’. It is a fascinating and entrancing experience, giving a sense of security due to belonging to the group. Joint rumination is a kind of group meditation.
Adverse horoscopic or mundane circumstances can tarnish positives of the wisent-people into negatives such as selfishness, greed, severity, despotism, tyranny, unspirituality, disregard for others, conservatism, separation in their imaginary or narcotic world, isolation and a dismal end with possibility of suicide.
