Inborn Depressive and Suicidal Dispositions

Saturnian depressive tendencies in Lubitz’s chart

Mental depression is a Saturnian disease and influence. Saturn-Sun and Saturn-Mercury conjunctions are classic depressive conditions. Lubitz’s chart satisfies both conditions. His Saturn is strong because it contacts Sun and in principle inclines him to depression. Lubitz’s Mercury is in exact conjunction to Saturn. This is another classic sign of proclivity to depression. ‘Depression is not uncommon and there is a propensity to solitary habits’.1)C.E.O.Carter

Jovian depressive tendencies in Lubitz’s chart

Jupiter in Aries and Jupiter connected to Saturn are also conditions predisposing to depression. This is especially valid for Jovian people. Lubitz is a Sagittarian and his Jupiter satisfies both conditions. Sagittarius is a mutable sign and lacks power to resist depression.

Lunar depressive tendency in Lubitz’s chart

The Moon is in its Fall in Scorpio. Moon is Scorpio preconditions depressions especially when afflicted. Lubitz’s Moon is in a very deep Fall and is heavily afflicted. Besides residing in a very strong Scorpio, it is near the two malefics co-ruling the sign – Mars and Pluto.

Moon in Scorpio represses the feelings and creates great emotional tension that tends to spontaneously discharge from time to time. This position of the Moon engenders misanthropy and a desire for retribution. Emotionally Lubitz must have been like a steam boiler that is ready to explode.

Fallen planets misbehave and cause trouble. They tend to do things that demand apology and are to be regretted. Scorpio’s programs subconsciousness into crisis, destruction and self-destruction. The greatest damage that such a plummeted Moon as that in Lubitz’s chart is capable is performing a suicidal massacre.

Suicidal tendency by degree

Lubitz’s Sun is at 26th or 27th degree of the mutable sign Sagittarius depending on his birth-moment. One way or another his 26° is active being midpoint of three or four pairs of planets. Charles Carter has established that 26th degree of mutable signs ‘is a notably violent area’ in suicide cases. The zodiacal position of Lubitz’ Sun is an important condition that disposes him to suicide.

Another tradition associates 24° Sagittarius with suicide and destruction. In Lubitz’s chart, the degree is occupied by Mercury-Saturn conjunction, an aspect that disposes to depression and facilitates suicide.

In Lubitz’s chart, the north lunar node is at 28° Pisces, which is another degree that is associated with suicide and destruction. This hints toward an anti-social significance of the possible suicide and/or destruction.

In addition, in Lubitz’ chart Ceres is at 295° that is associated with violent death. Ceres is in a close conjunction to Venus that is at the same degree or within a degree to Ceres the day he was born. The union of the bodies suggests ability to cultivate sexuality and to use charm in self-realization. And the degree associates the self-realization with violent death.

Suicidal tendency by aspect

All of the classic astrological aspects mentioned by Carter that relate to suicidal tendency but are independent from the birth-moment and therefore from astrological houses exist in the chart of Lubitz.2)‘Suicidal tendency is usually shown by violent afflictions to one or both of luminaries. …and often to Mercury as well, while as a general rule Saturn afflicts heavily and Jupiter… …is often in Saturnian sign or in aspect with Saturn. The principal afflictor in such case, however, is Uranus. …A notably violent area is 25° of fixed and about 26° of mutable signs.’ C.E.O.Carter Conjunction of luminaries with malefics are factors preconditioning suicide. Lubitz’s luminaries are both violently afflicted by two malefics each. His Sun is in conjunction with Saturn and Uranus and his Moon is in a more or less wide conjunction with the other two malefics – Mars and Pluto.

Mercury is also often afflicted in suicide cases. In Lubitz’s horoscope it is in exact conjunction with Saturn which has a double effect. On the one hand this aspect makes thinking precise. On the other hand it lowers mental energy and decisiveness and predisposes to psychological depression. With this aspect ‘Depression is not uncommon and there is a propensity to solitary habits. […] Afflictions between these planets are common in cases of suicide.’3)C.E.O.Carter

The principal afflictor in suicidal cases is Uranus. In Lubitz’s chart, it afflicts both Sun and Mercury. Aspects planted pursuit of extremes and absolute independence, radicalism, opportunism as well as tendency to sudden unexpected decisions.

Jupiter and Saturn are antagonists. Often In charts of suicides they are connected by sign or aspect. In Lubitz’s horoscope Saturn is in the Jovian sign Sagittarius and throws trine to Jupiter.

Suicidal tendency by midpoint

In Lubitz chart, Saturn is at the Sun/Mercury midpoint. This position indicates inhibited mental outlook, pessimistic attitude to life and possible depression and thoughts about separation or parting.

A tearing down stellium

The tight stellium formed by Uranus, Sun, Saturn and Mercury in Sagittarius signifies that native is perpetually being torn apart by the desire to make a flying jump (Uranus in conjunction to Sun in Sagittarius) and the sense of overweight and low energy (Saturn in conjunction to Sun). Lubitz has been stretched between future and past, revolution and tradition, optimism and pessimism, utopianism and pragmatism, easiness and frustration, flightiness and seriousness, recklessness and responsibility, enthusiasm and depression or flight and fall.

Through his actions, Lubitz reconciled these contradictory qualities. Certainly, his strong utopianism due to strong Sagittarius, Jupiter, Uranus and densely populated third decanate has helped him to make sense of this sheer madness.
